MOBILE PHONE

Hello and a very good morning to all my fellow friends. Today i would like to about which particular inventions between mobile phone or the computer has made our life very much easier in our student life easier. For me mobile phone has made our student life easier than the computer because mobile phone is small screen, limited battery life, difficulties with input, the distraction issues and a failure of imagination. “Could it be that mobile phones offer developing country governments a better learning tool and more educational benefits than that computers?. First of all, mobile phone is personal. The phone is, for most people, an intensely personal device — in some places, it is the first thing a person reaches for when she wakes up, the last thing she touches before she nods off to sleep, and it is with her throughout her waking hours. The phone is always on, not like a computer that just need to switch on when needed. There are currently five great limitations to the use of mobile phones in education when compared with computers. As a tool for just-in-time, connected learning, the phone would appear to have important advantages over the computer, merely given the fact that it is always there, and always on. The success of the iTunes app store is demonstrating that there are great opportunities to exploit the fact that people are walking around with an increasingly sophisticated computer in their pocket that we are choosing to call a ‘phone’ for historical reasons to offer other types of software and learning applications that are not feasible to offer on a PC. that all from me,thanks you.

THE COMPUTER

Hello and a very good morning to all my fellow friends. Today i would like to about which particular inventions between mobile phone or the computer has made our life very much easier in our student life easier. For me, of course the computer is better invention than mobile phone. As we all know that the computers have become popular in teaching and learning as there are massive libraries of applications available to run on them, remove the programs and it is just a heap of parts. Mobile phones have a more limited code base partially due to the proprietary nature of phone operating systems, lack of incentive to program for the form factor and if you look at it from an input perspective they are just too difficult to use to input large amounts of data. Yet from a data retrieval perspective a phone is a great device as it has an exceptional battery life, is portable and becoming more and more affordable, not to mention nearing ubiquitous. While mobile phones' usage may outnumber PCs in terms of ownerships. To have the general population to have smart phones with latest gadget would be a long long time or never will. Phones have their main uses mainly for communication. In a way, this is a form of learning. But to equate or even think that using mobile phones to impart knowledge, the way a PC is able to do, is wishful thinking.

Another big disadvantage of a mobile phone is the cost of usage. For each transmission of data, and mobile phones need continous transmission, the cost of usage would be too expensive for most. A PC does not cost anything if run offline with unlimited contents.
It is not a comparison actually. A PC has its place well entrenched as far as ICT in Education is concerned. A mobile phone has its place as a communication device with limted uses as a learning tool for a few rich guys.
There is one advantage of a mobile phone actually. they can dispense with the need for Satellite connections to get Internet access to remote areas where land lines are out of reach. That all from me,thanks you for listening.
